Artist Statement
The reason I chose to do environments is because I love the way it feels to walk through an area that is aesthetically pleasing. It gives you a sense of belonging and can change your mood almost immediately. What I hope to gain by doing this in the 3D world is to give the players a greater sense of reality so that they can be fully immersed in the story. Whether it is frightening and cold or comforting and warm, I want the players to feel the emotion as if the story was truly their own.

Monday May 6, 2013:
For my movie I watched Beowulf. I think this movie best applies to my approach of 3D environments even though the entire movie is done in Houdini. In the Mead Hall where most of the action takes place, you can see how smooth and realistic the wood is and yet it still looks like it was hand carved and thoughtfully put together. Though that may only apply to the textures, the way the models of weapons and treasures were done clearly show a lot of skill and experience. I hope to one day achieve this much detail in my work regardless of what program I should choose to use.
