Went to go see Iron Man 3 on Sunday night. I'm not sure if I was suppose to make a new post or not so I did anyway. Here is my paragraph we were required to write:
Iron Man 3, while an incredible movie with great story line and wonderful character development, wasn't always a flashy motion picture. The Original Iron Man was a character that made his first appearance in Tales of Suspense, released March of 1963. This is where my focus comes into play. As an Inker and colorist there wasn't a whole lot I could relate to on the stand of it being a movie. Sure there were digital painters and some special color effects used to help blend the 3D portions in with the regular film but at the heart of it, this movie relates to my speciality with its origins as a comic book. Pencils drew up the original pages. After approval they go to inkers who go over the line work and make any corrections while often times developing details for the background. After the inks have been approved, they'll move on to a colorist. Someone who will apply colors to the page that not only compliment the line work but also stay on model for pre-established characters and backgrounds.
On a final side note, I would like to thank Professor Ellis for this opportunity. We were really thrown a bone and I really don't think everyone properly showed their appreciation for this chance to have an evening at home to work in return for just seeing a movie. In fact I would say some people were even down right horrible to Professor Ellis. But that is their prerogative I suppose. I enjoyed this opportunity and even though I wasn't thrilled I had to write the paragraph, I did get a chance to learn about Iron Man a bit more, even though I appreciate the characters from DC comics a bit more. I genuine enjoyed the movie. :)
